…... with the Offord electronic-type lighter was Drac Fraser; it proved to be a camera time (Thinks: must get to know a bit more about photography). The party left Kormakiti and set off towards Kyrenia just before midday; half way along the route a halt was called to bathe in the sea, eat sandwiches and quaff ale cooled in the sea and scramble around the rocks. In the late afternoon teawas taken on the way home and a short stop made at Kyrenia.

On Saturday a single land-rover run was made to establish contact with Troodos whilst others lazed in the sun at the Mess or by the sea. In the evening Jack Gregg and Mrs Jack threw a wine and cheese party for the chasps, attendance was 100%, only Wee Wee Tim was away as he was Orderly Officer - even Ian Craig returned from a day swan with No 70 Squadron down to Aden. The party as excellent and thoroughly enjoyed by all; entertainment was provided by the Ballet Offord-Craig (choreography by Offord). For those groups still remaining arguing earnestly in the small hours, egg and bacon was produced and a most pleasant evening concluded.

Sunday was a pleasant lazy day spent mainly in sun bathing and swimming, the station pool being very close to the Mess. So ended a pleasant week, the week when many of the 208th decided to establish record of their virility and grew moustaches.

Monday 7th April - Sunday 13th April

The week started with the continuation of the Easter Grant which had already provided a very welcome break which by comparison with the normal working week seemed to be going on for a long time. For Easter Sunday the weather was hot and fine and so in the afternoon Evans the MT provided two land rovers and a large party set off to swim at Kyrenia having frst provided themselves with underwater shuftiscopes and other sub-aqua impedimenta from Nicosia. The afternoon was a great success and everyone seemed to be much more brown and healthy looking after a few hours in the sun.

In the attempts to find a beach the Barwell-manned machine entered a private road, stopped and reversed taking a gate post out as it went. Enter man, middle-aged, thoroughly British - very Army or ex-Army.

Man:  "I suppose you are in the Regiment."

'A' Flt Cdr: "No, the Air Force."

Man:  "What Air Force?" (Thinks: does this mean the end of the house?).
