There had been 10 marvellous years of anecdotes about life on 208 and, whichever generation or chapter it had been, one thing had always been the same: the terrific atmosphere. So, hopefully, the Association could keep that alive.

To illustrate the spirit that had been evident on the Squadron during his time on 208, the President, thankful that Malcolm Ward was not there to record the tale for posterity in the Newsletter, went on to regale the gathering with the unexpurgated true version of how 208 Squadron became the 'OutWright' winners of a Tactical Baggage Competition.

In closing, the President thanked all of the Committee for the outstanding work they had all done to keep the Association going. It had been a marvellous effort, and the Squadron spirit still remained, as per the poem that the Chairman had read. There were questions on the direction that the future might take but if the Association could keep the Squadron spirit going, it would certainly do so.

Lastly, the President asked everyone to join him in a toast to:

“Forever Vigilant: 208”
