The Last Piston-Engined Air Combat
22 May 2023 marks the 75th anniversary of the world’s last piston-engined air combat, in which Spitfires of 208 Squadron shot down 4 Egyptian Spitfires that had attacked their base at Ramat David. Flight Lieutenant Reginald S Porritt - 100 Years
The Association is indebted to Mr Brian Porritt, son of the late Flight Lieutenant Reginald Porritt, who served with 208 Squadron in Italy and Palestine between 1944 and 1946, for this outstanding photograph of his father, who would have celebrated his 100th birthday on 28 September 2023 (click on the photograph to view an enlarged copy).
