He went on to pay tribute to the Association Committee under the Chairman's leadership, who were doing a wonderful job. He was of the view that the Association had probably the best Squadron Association Magazine there was, and online it had probably the best ever Squadron Website. He thanked Malcolm Ward and Neil Meadows respectively for their individual efforts.


He recalled a reunion he had attended recently in Cheltenham with Bill Wratten, in which they had welcomed members of their Phantom, Tornado, Hunter, Buccaneer, Helicopter, Training and Chipmunk eras, albeit they too had seen a reduction in numbers attending. It made him realise how important it was to keep getting together. Although the Association no longer had an active Squadron, and was unlikely in the current situation to get one, it had a formidable spirit and, if it could hang on to that spirit, it would undoubtedly survive, despite the inevitably reducing numbers.


The President concluded his address with a toast to the 208 Squadron Association, after which the convivial gathering continued with many a tale of derring do…
