Whenever you, and those who follow after, salute this Standard you and they will recall brave names and great occasions, and be resolved by your actions and example always to maintain the old tradition.”
After the
Squadron Commander’s reply the Standard was slow marched back to the ranks of the Squadron to the tune of the National Anthem. Following this the Squadron paraded their Standard for the first time with a slow march past followed by a quick march past and an advance in Review Order. After ‘three cheers for Her Majesty, the Queen”, the Squadron marched
off the parade ground to the strains of the RAF March Past.
After the presentation the Squadron gave a flying display which consisted of an air to ground demonstration by four aircraft using live ammunition on a target in the middle of the airfield, synchronised aerobatics by two teams of four aircraft and a demonstration of solo aerobatics. The eight aircraft then joined up and performed a loop and a roll.

For myself, and those who have come with me today, I would say this - Today our memories are alive with the names of our Squadron mates of old and those who flew and lost their lives with the Squadron, and are so much in our minds as to seem to be actually here.
You have achieved what we set out to do in 1916 - to establish a great and enduring tradition of Service discipline, good fellowship and fighting efficiency.
The memory of this day and what your Standard symbolises will remain with you, I am sure, all your lives.
