The Gwen Jackson Trophy - 04

* Encouragement - To be supportive, where guidance is used as the foundation to offer encouragement to others.

* Be a teacher - and in teaching always be willing to learn.

* Trust and reliability - This award is given to honour an officer who has demonstrated that he or she has always "been there" for fellow officers and in doing so has demonstrated a willingness to put the well-being of those officers before those of him or herself.

The Gwen Jackson Trophy was first awarded on 16 May 2003 to Flight Lieutenant Stephen Moon of No 71 Course, and Squadron Leader Dave McBryde of No 72 Course.

The Gwen Jackson Trophy

A solid silver trophy conceptualising flight and marking “the essence of the spirit of a pilot”.

The bowl of the trophy represents an inverted nose-cone and is hand-raised in germanium silver alloy.  It is supported by the curving slip streams of two British Aerospace Hawks that connect it to the base which contains two enamel plaques, the emblems of both the RAF and the squadron.
