For once we were actually thankful that 12 Sqn were 
around as Phill O’Dell (Pod, now of Rolls-Royce test pilot fame) happened to be down visiting his girlfriend for the weekend. Whilst Leighton and Pod weren’t exactly the same size, an acceptable solution was found which meant that Pod flew the Bucc back on Monday and Leighton got to sip G&Ts on the Gib Air flight. In time our flypasts matured and in the final full year of service, Neil Benson and FB returned to Gib to do a proper display, but that’s another story.
Most of the Bucc Boys have been to Gib at some time or other and all have our favourite stories. Whatever they are, we always have an affinity for the Rock, for the social scene, for the sun and for the excellent flying we did.
